XML Copy Editor is a cross-platform, open source XML editor focusing on editing document markup languages such as DITA, DocBook, WordprocessingML.It is fast and taken as the powerful validating XML editor. It is available for both Windows and Linux. It is available in multiple languages as well.
You can download its Linux packages for Arch, Fedora, Gentoo, Slackware and Ubuntu from the download link given at the end of the post. You can also install the XML Copy Editor in Ubuntu 10.04, 10.10, 11.04 and 11.10 by running the following commands in the terminal.
sudo apt-get install xmlcopyeditor
Once installed , you can launch it from the Dash or by navigating to Applications -> Programming -> XML Copy Editor.
Now, you can open up multiple XML documents in tabs with XML Copy Editor and start editing them. While editing the XML documents , XML Copy editor provides you with some basic features such as Syntax Highlighting , Spelling and Style Checks, Word Count andRunning a command within the interface. The righ panel can be used to select the current element as well as insert element, sibling and entity in the document.
You can also Show/Hide Tags and Attributes in the XML document from the View menu. In the same menu, you also have the options for folding, unfolding the tags and toogling the folds.
Under Insert menu, you have to option to Element, Sibling, Entity, Twin and Symbol.
You configure the features and options of XML Copy Editor by navigating to Edit -> Preferences.
